Trader Joe’s Mini Pizzas, Spizzico di Pizza

These Trader Joe’s mini pizzas are pretty good snacks or appetizers, but are mostly dough. The dough, cheese and pizza sauce all combine to make a pretty good tasting little Spizzico di pizza as Trader Joe’s calls them. But I wish they were a tad less doughy. They seem to be somewhat of a cross between bagel bites and Trader Joe’s Bambino mini pizzas. If you microwave them they’ll come out sort of soggy, sort of crunchy but just not quite right. So just pop them in the oven for a bit and they’ll be nice and crunchy with less sogginess and a better overall taste. Whenever I make these mini pizzas or the Bambino mini pizzas I always think back when I would eat bagel bites as a kid and would be too lazy to make them in the oven. But whenever I took them out of the microwave, I always told myself I should have just been a little less lazy and turned the oven on!………….

Trader Joe’s Spizzico di Pizza

Apparently the name of these translates to a “Pinch of pizza” from Italian. I do like these but because there are so many good Trader Joe’s appetizers and snacks, I wouldn’t eat these mini little dough pizzas very often. I would probably first go with the Trader Joe’s Spanikopita. Of course, if I’m going to turn the oven on when I’m feeling super ambitious, I’d probably just make an entire pepperoni pizza! But if you need some apps for a party or for kids, these aren’t a bad option. Maybe you can make a package of Bambino mini pizzas and these mini pizzas so the kids will get to pick and choose which one they want!…..
