Trader Joe’s Chakri, Spicy Indian Snack Mix

This Trader Joe’s Chakri mix is a spicy, crunchy Indian flavored snack that has a really unique taste to it. Chakri is a super popular Indian snack, so Trader Joe’s has combined it with other nuts and chickpeas to make this Indian trail mix. It has a slight kick to it and reminds me of a really good Indian curry dish but with crunch and texture. If you love Indian spices and flavors, and want a crunchy snack, this is the perfect combination. You won’t find anything like this spicy chakri mix at a regular grocery, so as usual TJs has added another unique ethnic item to their long list of interesting products. And if you can’t make it out to TJs, check out these items………….

Trader Joe’s Spicy Chakri Mix

There are so many really good Trader Joe’s trail mixes and nut mixes that new ones tend to get overlooked sometimes. But the unique combo of this chakri mix intrigued me when I saw it in the Trader Joe’s new product section. I’m not sure I would eat this all the time, but I would definitely keep this in my pantry when I felt like Indian flavors and wanted a crunchy, salty and relatively healthy snack. What does everyone think of this Indian mix? I’d love to know everyone’s favorite Trader Joe’s trail mix and if there’s an under the radar one that people love?!…..

  1. Looking at the ingredients, this seems to be gluten free, yet they don’t mention it.
Last night we made stuffed pork chops using this mix. We sautéed onions, celery and garlic in butter and a smidge of olive oil. We ran the Chakri mix through the food processor then added it to the pan and cooked it a bit. It seemed a little dry so we added a bit of chicken stock and let that adsorb. We stuffed the chops, seared them then finished them in the oven. Yum!

  2. Spicy chakri mix… I’m not a fan. I like Indian food and flavors, but this mix’s pieces are too tiny. Unlike the picture in the pack, it’s like a bag of crumbs.

  3. FYI-I’m and Indian that grew up in the USA and a big foodie!!!
This chakra mix is very authentic- actually better because the oil used is expeller pressed. I load up on these to serve to my Indian guests and they can’t believe how tasty and authentic the Trader Joe’s version of chakli (Indian name for this type of spicy trail mix) which is traditionally mixed with peanuts and sometimes dried fruit and always with lots of spices (masalas)
I love and hope it doesn’t ever disappear from Trader Joe’s shelves!!
