Trader Joe’s Cornbread Mix

This Trader Joe’s cornbread mix is solid. I wouldn’t say it’s the best cornbread I’ve ever eaten, but it gets the job done. When you’re slathering butter on a hot piece of cornbread fresh out of the oven, everything tastes amazing. I’d imagine that the quality of the milk, eggs and oil you use would make a difference in the texture and taste of this TJ’s cornbread mix. Looking at the ingredients of the mix, it’s is lacking a lot of the odd sounding, probably super unhealthy things that are added to most cornbread mixes. If you need an easy and cheap way to make cornbread, buy this mix and start looking up homemade cornbread recipes for another time! …..…….

Trader Joe’s Cornbread mix

What is everyone’s favorite thing to pair cornbread with? I usually end up eating it like a dessert since it is so sweet and delicious. Sometimes when I make barbecued chicken I’ll make this mix and put a slice on the side as I devour my chicken. Is it considered weird to put things like jam or jelly on cornbread? I think if you melted butter and mixed it with some jam or jelly you could create a heavenly cornbread concoction. I’m really curious to know what everyone’s crazy or unique cornbread topping they’ve tried or want to try. Jalapeno cornbread has become super popular over the last few years. Despite liking jalapenos, I’ve never really loved that combo of flavors. Too much sweet with spicy for me. Like the Trader Joe’s Chicago popcorn mix. I just end up separating the cheddar and caramel popcorn so I don’t have to get surprised every time I pop one into my mouth! ……

  1. I mash an overripe banana into this mix, if I happen to have one. I also and add a second egg and brush a little butter on the surface of the cornbread once it’s out of the oven for a more cake-like treat. Pairs great with strawberry-rhubarb jam.
