This Trader Joe’s Chocolate Cake, known as Patisserie de chocolat, is a delicious little cake found in the bakery section of TJs. It has a nice rich and sweet chocolate flavor, but make sure to eat it as soon as possible. It can get fairly dry if you let it get close to the best buy date. Trader Joes has had a bunch of different versions of chocolate cake over the years, including the delicious frozen I Dream of Chocolate cake and the Dark Chocolate Ganache cake. The dark chocolate ganache sheet cake is also in the bakery section. Chocolate Cake at Trader Joe’s
What is everyone’s favorite chocolate cake or other variety cake at TJ’s? I think my all time favorite of the non frozen cakes is the Trader Joe’s chantilly cream buttercream cake, but it all depends on which frosting flavor you like. There is something about the Trader Joe’s sheet cakes that they all have such a rich and dense cake and frosting combo. In any case, this patisserie de chocolat cake has a really nice ganache filling that doesn’t overwhelm the cake, but provides a really good texture and richness. This chocolate cake has come and gone over the last few years, but it seems like Trader Joes usually brings back a lot of the cakes around the holidays since they must sell more at those times. You could also buy one of these and stash it in the freezer and defrost it overnight when you’re ready to eat it!……

I have issues with it (cake aspect is grainy, frosting is a bit too sweet), but the flavor combination is excellent and it is exceptional for its price category.
Love TJs chocolate cake. We buy it for every holiday and our special occasions. I don’t have backup in the freezer. So we will need to wait several months (it is May) until it is once again available. It is the perfect size for two people! Hurry up December!!!
