Trader Joe’s Wild Rice, Cultivated

This Trader Joe’s wild rice is cultivated in the USA and has a nice chewy texture with a nutty and earthy flavor to it. Generally wild rice can be very expensive so at under $6/lb for this TJs wild rice, this is actually a good deal. True wild rice has an even more distinct flavor and chewy texture to it, but the next best thing is this Trader Joe’s cultivated wild rice. I love the color and flavor of this, so if you’re willing to spend a few extra dollars, this is a great wild rice option………….

Cultivated Wild Rice at Trader Joe’s

There are a lot of great options for rice at Trader Joe’s and this wild rice has been around a few years as a solid if not pricey option. If you’re looking for a rice with a unique texture, I’d give the new TJs calrose rice a try, which has a sushi rice like chewiness to it, just without the interesting coloring of this wild rice. How would everyone compare the taste and texture of this rice compared to other wild rices?! If anyone has a great recipe and way to cook this, let us know! And if you can’t make it out to TJs, give these items a try…..

  1. This is a great product, but it hasn’t been in the downtown Chicago stores recently. Is it coming back?
