Trader Joe’s Calrose Rice, Medium Grain

This Trader Joe’s Calrose rice is grown in California and is prized for it’s stickiness and ability to absorb flavors and sauces because of it’s neutral taste. This product is new for 2021 at TJs, and is the perfect rice if you’re making sushi or poke bowls at home, or want to make a protein bowl over rice with a rich sauce. When you first see this calrose rice it doesn’t seem like anything special, but when you cook it and feel the texture and stickiness of it, you realize why calrose rice is so much better than regular old rice………….

Calrose Rice at Trader Joe’s

There are so many types of rice at Trader Joe’s, but this new Trader Joe’s calrose rice is already among my favorites. It’s perfect for adding sauces and broths to or for making poke bowls, and tastes very similar to the sushi rice you get with rolls or nigiri at sushi restaurants. What does everyone think of this rice compared to other type of regular rice? If anyone has made any recipes using this calrose rice, I’d love to hear about it! And priced at $2.49 for a 2 lb bag, this is a pretty good value too. As always, if you can’t make it out to TJs, give these items a try…..
