Trader Joe’s Peri Peri Sauce

This Trader Joe’s peri peri sauce has a definite spicy kick to it, but combined with an almost creamy savoriness that goes perfectly on chicken or other proteins. I used it as a dipping sauce for chicken tenders, and slathered it on some grilled chicken like you commonly find at peri peri chicken restaurants. Peri peri chicken is from South Africa and generally is just flame grilled chicken, which utilizes this sauce. TJs peri peri sauce is actually made in South Africa so not only does it taste authentic, it actually is. And if you compare the ingredients to Nando’s Peri Peri sauce and other national brands, Trader Joe’s version is lacking some of the unhealthy preservatives…….…….

Peri Peri Chicken Sauce at Trader Joe’s

There are a lot of uniquely regional sauces and dishes available at Trader Joe’s so I was surprised when I saw this on the shelf that it didn’t already exist at TJs. For anyone that’s had peri peri chicken, you know how delicious not only the flame grilled chicken is, but the hot and rich sauce that accompanies it is. How would everyone compare the taste of this to Nando’s sauce? I think I like the flavor of this even better than Nando’s. If anyone has a go to recipe for Peri Peri chicken using this sauce, let us know! And if you can’t make it out to TJs, give these items a try…..

    1. Hey Jenny, do you happen to have a recipe? I was thinking about making a peri peri sauce using coconut milk? Maybe something to consider.
