Trader Joe’s Orange Juice, Fresh Squeezed

I like Trader Joe’s Orange juice a lot, with it’s balanced but sweet taste and just the right amount of pulp. Don’s expect a crazy sweet juice like some national brands that add a bunch of stuff to their OJ. TJs orange juice has come in different sizes and flavors over the years. But I still think my favorite variation is the Trader Joe’s blood orange juice. Anyways, this regular unpasteurized and fresh squeezed orange juice is not bitter at all. That can sometimes happen on the rare occasion I squeeze my own orange juice from random ones I buy at the grocery. I’d imagine it depends on the type of oranges you buy for how well they squeeze and what the bitterness level is. …….…….

Orange Juice at Trader Joe’s

Does anyone have a go to orange they use if they decide to not be lazy and actually juice their own oranges? Sometimes my laziness is overwhelmed by the novelty of using my electric juicer where I can press down the orange on that little round spinning wheel. The real question I always have is how hard to I press down and how far down to the rind do I have to go to maximize the juice without getting the rind bitterness.

I was buying the tangerine juice for awhile which is also delicious but I usually just revert back to this old standby regular orange juice. I also like the taste it puts in smoothies. Unlike some of the other orange and fruit juices, this doesn’t add too strong of a flavor, but provides a good subtle sweet, orange flavor when put in the blender with other goodies. What is everyone’s go to smoothie recipe that uses this Trader Joe’s orange juice?!…..

  1. Pasteurized OJ from Trader Joe’s is supposed to last longer than fresh squeezed. But twice now mine spoiled before the bottle was even half empty and I don’t leave it untouched for extended periods at all. On reopening, the contents “exhale” massively and the taste has gone sour. Taking the half empty bottle back for a full refund.

  2. I just tried the “Fresh Squeezed” OJ and it is very good. Not sure it is truly fresh with a 3-week sell by date. Most fresh juices have a 3 – 5 day sell by date. It tastes more like Cold Pressed or light pasturization like Natalies of Florida.
