This Trader Joe’s jackfruit in brine is a good vegan alternative to pulled pork and other meats, priced at a good value for under $2. When you want to mimic braised or pulled meats, you can cook this jackfruit in a good bbq sauce and it will take on the qualities of pulled pork with remarkable similarities. It’s a perfect vegan option to make things like rice bowls, a simmering bbq jackfruit entree or really anything else you’d add a delicious meat to. I know a lot of people compare the taste of it to hearts of palm, but one of the best things about Trader Joe’s jackfruit is that it really absorbs and takes on any flavor that its cooked in. ………….

Green Jackfruit at Trader Joe’s

It’s not that easy to find canned jackfruit in regular grocery stores outside of Trader Joe’s. A lot of Asian grocery stores carry this, but not always at a such a good price of $1.99. I know at different times I’ve seen this in groceries like H Mart and Mitsuwa, but for a few more dollars. There are so many good vegan jackfruit recipes out there so that you can have a meatless alternative meal that feels like you just simmered a nice pulled pork! What are everyone’s favorites recipes to cook with this jackfruit?

I’d imagine there are some really creative ways to make this so it takes on all the flavors and textures of bbq meat. Jackfruit is one of the only fruits I’ve tasted where you really can convince yourself you’re eating a piece of pulled meat. And if you can’t make it out to TJs, give these items a try….
