Trader Joe’s Frozen Rice, Organic Jasmine

This Trader Joe’s frozen jasmine rice comes out really delicious hot from the microwave. Of course if you are looking to save money, it makes a lot more sense to make your own rice. But for a hard to find product that is organic and easy to make, this is actually a pretty good value. TJ’s freezer section has a bunch of different varieties like Trader Joe’s frozen brown rice so it really depends on your taste preference. I really like the subtle taste of jasmine rice that gives it a distinct quality compared to regular white and brown rice. Organic jasmine rice is not sold frozen in most grocery stores so this is another example of Trader Joe’s finding a niche product and getting it in the frozen section. Is there a more exciting section to browse when you haven’t been to TJ’s in awhile?!………….

Trader Joe’s Organic Jasmine Rice

I am not a big eater of rice as I usually get my carbs from pasta, but the nutrition and ingredients for this jasmine rice is actually really healthy. I know a lot of people prefer the Trader Joe’s frozen brown rice, but I think this jasmine rice is a nice base for Indian dishes. It also soaks up strong and pungent flavors really well. I’d imagine brown rice is healthier than jasmine, but I much prefer this jasmine rice to any brown rice I’ve had. Let me know how everyone decides on which rice to buy and use in different recipes. I feel like once I know more about when to use frozen rices in hat dishes, I may end up eating a lot more of it! Check out these other options if you can’t make it to TJs……

  1. I really like using this to make chicken fried rice. As long as you have the chicken, the frozen rice & peas/carrots are ready to go.

  2. Has anybody else noticed that some of the Organic Jasmine Rice has a yellow tint, and some does not — in a box we have opened, two of the pouches had some of the yellowish rice, and one had only white rice. Does anyone have an explanation? Cautious members of our family are worried about contamination or spoilage.
