Trader Joe’s Risoni, Chickpea & Red Lentil

This Trader Joe’s risoni made with chickpea flour and red lentil four is a really good rice substitute that uses the starchiness and chewiness of legumes as a perfect stand in for rice. You can easily make this in boiling water, and its fiber rich nutritional profile is a good way to fill yourself up without things like rice or potatoes. In general, legumes are one of the healthiest ways to get protein and fiber into your diet, so give this risoni a shot if you haven’t had it before!………….

Trader Joe’s Risoni Made With Chickpeas and Red Lentils

There are a few really good rice substitutes at Trader Joe’s, but this is among the healthiest and best tasting with a really good texture to it. What is everyone’s favorite recipe or way to use this risoni? I’d love to hear super unique or creative recipes that incorporate this gluten free rice substitute. I had always heard that legumes were a really good healthy replacement for rice or potatoes, but don’t think I had ever even heard of risoni until I tried this Trader Joe’s version. If anyone has a favorite non TJs brand risoni, let me know! And if you can’t make it out to TJs, check out these products…..

  1. Please bring this back! It was delicious. I went looking for it today at my local TJs and I was told by a manager it was discontinued. Totally bummed.

  2. My 40-year-old son asked for me to buy this again for a recipe. Not available?? Please bring it back.

  3. Please bring this product back. It is wonderful, delicious, and much healthier than tradtional pasta. I was very disappointed when I could purchase it last week.

  4. I recently learned the Risoni was no longer available, and like others was disappointed. This was one of the best products at TJ’s. Please bring it back!

  6. I went to buy more or the TJs Risoni today and found that it has been discontinued. Very disappointing. We really liked it. Not sure why it was discontinued. Perhaps there are other alternatives in different stores. Would really like to see it return as a standard stocked item.

  7. I am very disappointed to find TJ’s Risoni discontinued. As a diabetic looking for good rice substitutes I found chick pea and lentil Risoni to be a great one…perhaps the best I have found so far. This a great sadness for those searching satisfying alternatives in the low glycemic index

  8. Please bring back the Risoni as it worked perfect in my GF recipes! Please bring back the Fiesta Cashew Dip too!! I love Joe’s but don’t like when you guys cancel the good stuff.

    1. Risoni has resurfaced at Aldi. It’s now called simply nature “organic” chickpea and red lentil legume rice. Same size box, same Italian origin, same nutritional information panel and same pricing at $2.99. it’s a limited time only Aldi finds product. Get it fast and stock up before it disappears. Box stamped Best use by January 2024!

    1. Just to add one more voice to the chorus:
You have such great products, but you seem to regularly discontinue many of the best ones (carrot and ginger soup; honey pale ale mustard; you even had a canned lentil stew at one point which was amazing and then it disappeared). Please bring this one back.

      1. 7/7/2022 discontinued TJ,s product alert!!!!
“RISONI” has found a new home at Aldi! It’s a limited time Aldi find!

  9. Please bring this back. I originally purchased it from Aldi’s under the Simple Nature brand. They too have discontinued it. It is so good tasting and filling, and being gluten, it is a great way to get lots of extra protein and fiber. PLease, Please, Please bring it back!
