Trader Joe’s Psyllium Husk, Vegetarian Soluble Fiber

This Trader Joe’s psyllium husk is vegetarian, dissolves into a gel like consistency when whisked with water, and is fantastic at helping constipation and digestive issues. TJs now sells psyllium husk made by Now brand, replacing the original Secrets of the Psyllium dietary supplement. Now brand is a highly rated maker of dietary aids, and sells both psyllium husk powder and whole husks. I only saw the whole psyllium husks version at my Trader Joe’s but at $7.99 for 12 ounces, this is a great deal, especially compared to other places like Whole Foods. ………….

Trader Joe’s Soluble Fiber, Whole Psyllium Husks

Trader Joe’s psyllium husk has been available going back years, but it’s fairly recent that they now carry whole psyllium husks with nothing added by Now Brand. Remember, whole psyllium husks make more of a gel like consistency where powder generally is supposed to be a more watery consistency when mixed. What does everyone think of this Trader Joe’s fiber in terms of how well it works, and what the consistency is like? I’d love to hear if this has really helped people’s digestive issues. And if you can’t make it out to TJs, give these items a try (Now Brand can sometimes be cheaper on Amazon than Trader Joe’s)…..

  1. This stuff is wonderful for relieving my chronic constipation! I take it daily now and won’t ever stop. I’m so thankful for this product and thankful TJ’s sells it so cheaply. That’s always a big plus!

    1. I just bought a 12 oz bottle of whole psyllium husks made by a company called Now at our Staten Island, NY store. I’ve haven’t tried it yet so don’t know how it tastes or if it’s effective. A previous reply stated that Amazon sells it but I haven’t confirmed this information.

  2. A cheap source of soluble fiber @ 2 cents a gram. But not as easy to take as inulin, which you can just mix into liquid and essentially have it disappear.

I found that taking a tablespoon of the powder directly into my mouth and then drinking the needed water directly is a major convenience vs. mixing it into water and then drinking. No more gunk on the glass sides or residual left over on the bottom!
