This Trader Joe’s beefless ground beef is mostly made up of soy proteins, onions and natural flavors. It comes pre-cooked and has a oniony and salt taste to it that feels pretty close to actual ground beef. The taste depends on what other meat substitutes you might be comparing this TJs version to. It has a thick and hearty texture that could definitely make you think you are actually eating ground beef, and it absorbs flavors and sauces pretty well. If you are a vegan and looking for something to mimic the taste of ground beef at a reasonable price, this is your jam. I know some people have compared this a bit to the soy chorizo, but the consistency and flavor of Trader Joe’s soy chorizo is a tad different than this………….

Beefless Ground Beef at Trader Joe’s
You can make a ton of good recipes using this beefless ground beef, like Trader Joe’s tacos, or add it to burritos and soups. What is everyone’s favorite recipe to use this in? I know that vegans have to be super creative in their recipes to make sure there is enough protein and flavor happening. I’d love to know what other vegan products at TJ’s you pair this with.
Trader Joe’s vegan products have taken off in the last few years, with an ever growing section dedicated to meatless and meat substitute products. I think the soy chorizo is still more popular than this, but Trader Joe’s meatless ground beef is definitely climbing up the charts for all my vegan friends! Ideally you’d eat meat substitutes that don’t have a bunch of things added like the caramel colors and natural flavoring that is in this TJs version, but this is still healthy overall…..
