Trader Joe’s Tempura Cauliflower, Kung Pao

This Trader Joe’s tempura cauliflower is a good vegan frozen meal with a nice mount of sweetness and heat. The cauliflower is easy to bake in the oven and then toss in the included kung pao sauce. Because cauliflower is hard to get super crisp, there is a decent contrast between the crispy tempura breading and the somewhat soft inside. Once you toss it in the sauce it becomes a slightly spicy and sweet dish that isn’t too bad. It’s not the greatest thing I’ve ever tasted, but I’m not a huge cauliflower fan. This unique entree is basically making a vegetable that doesn’t taste like much very edible. If I didn’t eat meat, I would definitely include this in my rotation for an easy, fairly quick meal. ………….

Trader Ming’s Kung Pao Tempura Cauliflower

I haven’t seen too many tempura cauliflower frozen meals in other grocery stores, so it’s nice to be able to find this at TJs. Cauliflower is having a moment, and it seems like the variations are basically endless. There’s the cauliflower gnocchi, cauliflower crisps, cauliflower thins, riced cauliflower, and the list goes on. I don’t love cauliflower but it’s a good way to get your vegetables in, especially in the riced version. You can convince yourself sort of that you’re eating real rice which is pretty impressive considering how different the two are usually. Anyways, I’d say make this Trader Joe’s tempura cauliflower and put it over some riced cauliflower. And then you probably will have had your fill of cauliflower for the month! Which of course means you can eat a pint of ice cream…..
