This Trader Joe’s Kunefe is a unique phyllo dough dessert with a crispy exterior and a sweet and gooey cheese inside with bits of pistachio and syrup on top. Pronounced kyun-eh-FAY, this Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dessert is filled with mozzarella and mizithra cheeses and comes with separate packets of pistachios and sweet syrup. Bake this in the oven for around 20 minutes, flip it on the plate and drizzle the pistachios and syrup over the crispy cheese filled dough! It has a super unique sweet cheese and dough taste to it that is unlike any dessert I’ve had. It’s like a cross between baklava, a cheese pastry and a danish. According to Trader Joe’s it can also be spelled kanafeh or kunafa. However you spell it, it’s a pretty good unique dessert!………….

Trader Joe’s Kunefe Dessert
I’m not sure I’ve seen kunefe in any local grocery stores, but leave it to Trader Joe’s to have a unique international dessert like this in their freezer aisle. I’m curious to know if everyone likes this dessert or if they’d choose a different Trader Joe’s dessert when they are mixing it up? I like this kunefe but I probably wouldn’t eat it regularly just because I like really sweet desserts and this is sort of a cross between sweet and savory. It’s definitely worth giving a try, since you may absolutely love the unique taste and texture of it! And if you can’t make it out to TJs, give these products a try…..

Trader Joe’s Shakshuka review
Unfortunately, like with many other trader joes favorites, they made the unwise decision to discontinue this item. Yes, I’m crying as I can’t find it anywhere else. Please trader joes, bring it back. That and the ash brie. I don’t ask for anything else.
I need this on my life and just assumed it was a holiday thing. I’ve been Checking for a year and just assumed they were out… im so sad
Please PLEASE bring it back!
