Trader Joe’s Shumai, Pork and Chicken

Trader Joe’s shumai comes in pork and chicken varieties and is one of my favorite Asian frozen dishes at TJs. They have a really good flavor to them, come with a super flavorful soy sauce packet, and can easily be made in the microwave. Of course these taste a lot better if you can somehow get a nice crisp on the outside in an airfryer or in a pan. But traditionally I think these are meant to be steamed, so that’s always an option if you’re feeling ambitious………….

Pork and Chicken Shumai at Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe’s shumai are basically little not quite round or square dough balls filled with deliciously seasoned chicken or pork filling. How would everyone compare the taste or texture of these to other Trader Joe’s frozen foods like egg rolls, soup dumplings or gyoza? I really like the Trader Joe’s chicken shumai, probably a tad more than the pork, but still put these a good deal behind Trader Joe’s soup dumplings in the list of my favorite TJs appetizers. And if you can’t make it out to TJs, give these items a try…..
