This Trader Joe’s Lentil Pasta is organic, gluten free and is a good substitute for real pasta. I haven’t had many of these substitute pastas since I don’t eat gluten free, but this tastes pretty darn good. I was expecting it to be very similar to the Trader Joe’s organic black bean pasta, but I found this held up a lot better. The texture of Trader Joe’s red lentil pasta is obviously something to get used to, but I found the slight kick in the aftertaste to be kind of interesting. You can boil this sedanini (that’s the name of this shape of pasta) like you would regular pasta, just make sure not to overcook it or the texture will be kind of a bummer………….

Trader Joe’s Lentil Pasta
I am admittedly not a gluten free pasta expert, but I would love to know what recipes everyone uses this in? Do gf items like Trader Joe’s red lentil pasta and black bean pasta act similarly in recipes? I’d imagine most of you have a go to sauce you use on this TJs lentil pasta. When you’re eating gluten free pastas that obviously have a different texture than normal pasta, does the flavor profile of the sauce generally change? I’d think maybe the texture and thickness of the sauce is more important when you’re mixing it with things like red lentils or black beans!
Gluten free recipes can be really delicious because people have to get so creative when they are working with ingredients that many recipes are not made for. I love the fact there is so many gluten free options at Trader Joe’s. Now I need to find the best gluten free bread out there…….
