Trader Joe’s Polenta, Organic Tube

This Trader Joe’s polenta is a thick and firm tube of cornmeal and salt that has a nice subtle creamy corn taste. Polenta is really versatile, so you can slice this up and grill it, saute it, or make delicious recipes like Creamy Parmesan Polenta or Polenta Pizzaiola. Because this is pretty much just made out of cornmeal, it has no fat or sugar in it, and is organic and gluten free. If you like polenta, this is about as healthy as it gets. And it’s a really good value priced under $2 for an 18 ounce tube. Keep in mind TJ’s also sells some frozen polenta like Trader Joe’s Creamy polenta with spinach and carrots. I know the tube of polenta looks sort of funky, but it always reminds me of the red Jimmy Dean sausage tubes. But this is definitely not breakfast sausage!…..…….

Trader Joe’s Polenta Tube

I really like the neutral corn taste of this polenta tube, but sometimes the sight of the tube can be hard to get past! How does everyone like to eat this polenta, since I know this is one of those items that people get really creative with. It basically is a blank canvas of corn that can be sliced, chopped or made to fit into any recipe or dish. I am super curious to know if people like adding this to Italian dishes, or traditional European dishes or other fun recipes that are creative. I really like this with cheese and creamy sauces and entrees, so if I was to give this a shot as part of an entree, I would probably give something like that creamy polenta recipe a shot……
