This Trader Joe’s furikake seasoning is a seaweed/salt flavored seasoning that you can add to rice, eggs, noodles or ramen. It basically gives anything you put it on a nice rich seaweed and salt crunch. I love this seasoning and use it all the time in otherwise boring or bland soups that I want a slight ocean fish flavor in. The little strips of seaweed mixed with the sesame seeds and kelp powder make this an amazing seasoning for anything that needs a little extra punch. And according to Trader Joe’s, most versions of furikake have MSG added to it, which Trader Joe’s version of course does not. Nori Komi Furikake Seasoning at Trader Joe’s
There are so many possibilities of recipes and dishes to add this seasoning to. I tried adding it to my eggs instead of just purely Japanese dishes and I thought it was pretty good. I still much prefer it in soups and ramen style noodle broths. What is everyone’s favorite recipe or dishes to use this seasoning in? I love Japanese food but don’t cook it very often so if anyone cooks a lot of Japanese food at home, I’m curious to know if you end up using this furikake much? In any case, there are a ton of recipes that you can use this in, including these Sriracha Furikake Tofu Fires from Trader Joe’s, which actually sound pretty good.
