Trader Joe's Everything But the Elote Seasoning

This seasoning will be familiar to you if you’ve had the Trader Joe’s Elote chips. This is smoky and sweet with a cheesy taste. It is really delicious. Trader Joe’s is attempting to bottle the flavors of Mexican street corn, or elote. So the cojita cheese, mayo, lime juice and chili powder that street vendors roll their corn on the cobs in is what they are going for here. And they’ve created a an amazing balance of flavors in this little colorful yellow bottle. Trader Joe’s suggests you can of course put it on corn on the cob, or even veggies and meat. I’ve added this a few times to creme fraiche for a really good dip for vegetables and chips…….…….

Everything But the Elote, Smoky and Sweet Seasoning

There are so many different things that you can put this seasoning blend on. Is this a secret ingredient for anyone in recipes? The depth of flavor that this imparts, especially since they’ve added corn flour to the blend, can really spice up an otherwise bland dish. Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel seasoning remains a TJ’s staple and the original blend in this line. But many other groceries have recreated that blend, while this is still mostly unique to Trader Joe’s! Let me know everyone’s favorite way to use this seasoning. I haven’t tried this on meat yet but it does seems like the smoky sweetness could go really well on a skirt steak or piece of chicken. I did put it on popcorn recently and it definitely made for a flavor bomb. Popcorn absorbs flavors really well, so I melted a little butter and sprinkled this on it and it was deeeelicious!
