Trader Joe’s Chocolate Croissants

These Trader Joe’s Chocolate Croissants are a great deal and super buttery and rich. There is just enough chocolate inside to make it a nice treat without being overpowering. Yes, you have to proof them overnight, but once they start baking the smell alone will make it well worth it. This is the kind of pastry you’d buy from a fancy bakery for $5 and not even be disappointed because it’s so delicious. Be sure to follow the exact directions on the box. The first time I baked them I overcooked them and they were slightly dried out, even though the amazing buttery taste was still really good.

  • Four super rich chocolate croissants
  • 320 calories per croissant (worth it!)
  • Great way to make semi-homemade dessert for guests
  • Net Weight: 12 oz

Trader Joe’s Chocolate Croissants

Ok, proof these overnight, pop them in the oven the next day, and your family will definitely think you’ve become a French baker. Or at least gobble these up quickly and ask for more. I think Trader Joe’s has done a good job with croissants over the years. The almond croissants are delicious, and so are those mini ones they have now that don’t require any proofing at all (no idea how they do that).

There is something about the buttery richness of the a crunchy croissant with that super moist and flaky center, especially with a really good cup of coffee. The great thing is even if you totally mess them up in the oven, the intoxicating smell will linger for hours. But honestly these aren’t hard to make and it’s sort of fun proofing them overnight and having the anticipation of baking them the next day. Just make sure you have some good butter on hand…

  1. This might be my favorite treat at Trader Joe’s! Whenever I make 4 of them, I usually eat 4 of them. I can’t believe how good they are even though they are frozen. Don’t ever let Trader Joes discontinue these!

  2. These chocolate croissants are incredible! Best ones I have ever had. My house smelled like a bakery after I cooked them. Sure hope they don’t get discontinued. Wish they were available in other stores!
